Hello Summer! 🌞 I don’t know where May went, but I’m pretty sure it took all my energy with it! It was a CRAZY month! My birthday. Mother’s Day. Natalie's graduation. Caelan’s summer internship in Boston. Family celebrations. All the emotions that come with big milestones. And it’s all been amazing! But it’s also been a lot. If you’ve been reading these newsletters or following the podcast, you know I've talked quite a bit about prioritizing yourself lately: slowing down, taking a breath, and asking yourself what you need. So after the whirlwind of May, what I needed was a vacation! Which is exactly why KC and I are spending this week in Hawaii, soaking up some sunshine and enjoying a little time away together. So that means there's no podcast or YouTube video this week. But I do have something else for you... HOMEWORK! Now don’t stop reading. It’s good, I promise. 😂 Here it is: Before summer slips away, schedule one thing that helps you reconnect with someone you love. That's it. That's the homework. Your spouse, a friend, your sister, your mom, your adult kids… whoever matters most to you. Because if your life is like mine, summer has a way of flying by. One minute you're thinking of all the fun you’re going to have, and the next minute you’re thinking, “How did we get to August already?” So don’t wait. I say it all the time - good relationships don't happen by accident. They happen because we make time for them. Without it, the people we care about most, often end up getting whatever time and energy we have left over after we've taken care of everything else. And that may not be a lot. So your homework is to put something on the calendar now. A walk. A lunch date. A concert. A weekend away. Coffee on the porch. Anything at all… JUST MAKE IT HAPPEN. You all know the moments we remember are not checking boxes off our to-do list. (Although I do enjoy that feeling!) The moments we remember are the times we spent with people we love. So I’m going to wrap this up and go make some memories with the person I love most. He is waiting for me in the sunshine! So before you close this email and move on with your day, do your homework. Seriously. Pull out your phone. Open your calendar. Text the person. Make the reservation. Buy the tickets. Pick the date. Whatever your thing is... schedule it now. Because the people and relationships that matter most deserve more than our leftover time. Have a wonderful week, enjoy the people you love, and I'll see you back here next Thursday.
